Birmingham Community Matters Privacy Notice

What’s new?
We have updated the Birmingham Community Matters (BCM) privacy notice (below) to address the new privacy standards, known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

These changes make it easier for you to understand how your data is stored and used and for what purpose. They also make it easier for you to request a copy of your data, or request to be deleted from our database altogether.

Birmingham Community Matters GDPR Privacy Notice

Why does BCM collect your data and how it is used?
Data is collected for the purpose of communicating with you via email about what’s going on with BCM including events and sessions that we are running near to you.

What data is collected?
If you have attended one of our sessions and taken part and agreed to be signed up for the email newsletter, the data we collect is your name and email address, where and when you attended a session, details that you give us about your group or idea and notes from the conversation that took place on that day.

How your data is stored
Your data is stored on a Excel spreadsheet held on Google Drive and is accessible to the Project Coordinator and the management committee of BCM. Any information taken from this spreadsheet for the purposes of monitoring the impact of our organisation and the funded projects that we run is anonymised.

If you signed up for the newsletter, your email address is stored on Mailchimp, a secure industry-standard tool we use solely for the purpose of managing email communication.

If you sign up for a session via Eventbrite, your email address is stored on Eventbrite, a secure industry-standard tool we use solely for the purpose of managing attendance at that particular session.

If you have emailed us or asked us to email you, your email address and correspondence will be held securely on our email accounts.
Your data will NOT be shared with any other organisations.

How long is your data stored?
Data is kept for until you choose to unsubscribe from the mailing list via the link provided at the end of all emails.

If you do not open any Mailchimp correspondence for one year, we will delete your email address from our Mailchimp database.

If you have attended any of our sessions that have been funded, your data will be stored for three years after the end of the project.

If you sign up for a session but you do not attend, your personal data (name and email address) will be deleted from our spreadsheet and Eventbrite within three months of the data you shared your personal data with us.

You can request a copy of this information at any time by emailing info@birminghamcommunitymatters.org.uk.

You can request to view or delete the data held about you at any time by emailing info@birminghamcommunitymatters.org.uk.
